The Grand Rooms

artists: Ben Waterman

(Seattle) - Gallery4Culture is pleased to present a solo exhibition of new work by Seattle based sculptor Ben WatermanThe Grand Rooms consists primarily of sculpture composed of divergent materials: clay (both raw and fired), paint, drywall, and wood.   Waterman, still early in his career, has exhibited extensively; his projects, noteworthy in scale and scope, have consistently garnered a good deal of attention. Having spent many years studying wood fire ceramics in Japan and the US, Waterman's material conscious installations maintain a profound connection to his roots in ceramics.
Artist Biography: Ben Waterman graduated from the University of Washington with an MFA in ceramics in 2009. His projects are influenced by his work as an organic farmer in Olympia, his travels abroad and domestic, and the study of political philosophy at Whitman College. Waterman teaches ceramics at Pottery Northwest and Seward Park Clay Studio. He will be curating an exhibition for the NCECA conference (National Council for the Education of Ceramic Arts) to be held in Seattle in early spring, 2012.
